Spikenard

Spikenard Essential Oil (Nardostachys jatamansi) is also commonly known as Nard, Nardin, and Muskroot.

Spikenard has many Biblical references as well. It’s an oil Mary Magdalene used to pour on Jesus feet as her show of love and affection. However, mystery schools explain that Mary did this because she was preparing his energy body for the crucification. Even in India, where it is called jatamansi, it is regarded as a spiritual plant. And used in a rich temple tradition in South India as a powder put in the Homas and Yagnas.

Spikenard Essential Oil has a strong woody, spicy, and musty aroma presenting a base fragrance note.

Physical Benefits: Spikenard is used for all menstrual health related issues. From menopause to irregular periods. From uterine infections to cysts in the uterus and severe menstrual cramping. Poor ovulation, cysts on the ovaries.

Spikenard is fabulous to use for severe constipation. It’s a natural laxative, if mixed with a carrier oil and rubbed into the navel and belly. 

One of the most effective cancer fighter because it combats inflammation. Studies have proved its effectiveness for any pancreas and diabetes related disease.  A 2010 study done at the School of Oriental Medicine in South Korea investigated the effect of spikenard on acute pancreatitis — a sudden inflammation of the pancreas that can range from mild discomfort to a life-threatening illness. The results suggest spikenard treatment weakened the severity of acute pancreatitis and pancreatitis-associated lung injury.

It’s a very important anti bacteria and anti fungal oil and helps in any fungal infection.

SPIKENARD is not a USDA certified oil. As the USDA board has classified spikenard as an endangered plant. However, in India, Spikenard is used freely in Ayurvedic medicine and grows in abundance in many parts of the country.
