This year, Shakti comes to us with a ferocious maternal protectiveness in three powerful forms— Kali, Bhairavi and Chamunda.

Bhairavi—The Mother. Represents all of creation. She gives us the strength to create and manifest anything we want for ourselves in our lives. She helps us recognise our destructive habits— procrastination, lust, and selfishness, and she helps us fight and overcome them. She also symbolises the power of consciousness. She gives us great power and strength when we meditate or pray to her. She is the Divine Mother who will do anything to protect her child. She is as fierce as she is compassionate and intensely loving.

Kali— The Wild Woman. Represents the bold, courage of a force that understands the full nature of her power. She is unapologetically protective. She will not stand for injustice. She is Nature in its rawest and most untamed. She is Nature’s essence —life giving, compassionate and with astounding beauty. She can be just as nurturing as a fruit tree, as she can be the raw wreckage of lightening and storm.

Chamunda— The Crone. Represents the Supreme Goddess of the universe, Chamunda is a highly benevolent form, blessing the devotees with all forms of wealth, happiness and prosperity. Chamunda carries the qualities of wisdom. She has the ability to decay and destroy anything that is not for the Highest Good. She’s the female energy of Yama. Therefore is helps in fulfilling what has started and dissolving what has ended.
